So is everyone else! We have a pretty major supply-demand problem… and I guess we get to refine our patience skill-building. The question is worth asking… why aren’t there more homes for sale in Eugene, Oregon?
-people don’t want to sell when there’s very little available to buy (limiting the upgrade market)
-choosing remodeling as option rather than selling
-boomers are retiring on average 8 years later than in the past, not wanting to move
-new construction is still constrained (lack of labor, lack of land, inflated material cost)
-median tenure in homes (average years a homeowner stays in their home) grew from 3 years in 2000 to 8.6 years in 2017. We are staying in our homes almost 3 times longer than we used to!
